Olympics - why aren’t there many/any black swimmers?

Local council run swimming facilities have closed down locally since the tories came to power.

In Tory Essex they seem to be doing great, so well in fact it's almost impossible to get into my local leisure centre.

I think it's more a case of use it or lose it. They will always blame funding but imo these things need to run as a business, if the clientele isn't there to at least make a break even then it would usually point that not enough people are using it

Roll on to the day when couples will be able to tweak their kids' genes. Most characteristics come from a number of different genes, which aren't easy to sort out, so companies will be able to sell their brews.
"A shot of German number 3 efficiency, two shots of Ethiopian 4 endurance and one Kenyan 2."
It'll be like blending coffee...

Or maybe poorer people don't tend to go because it's too expensive?

And quite often it's black people that tend to be less well off.

I live in a Tory borough and we’ve just had a brand new sports centre open recently. Everyone in this Tory Borough over the age of 50 gets free swimming sessions.
How many over 50's swimmers have you seen at the Olympics?

It's the wrong way around, it should be that all youngsters should get free swimming and be part of the school curriculum as it was back in the day...

A free swimming scheme for under 16's was reintroduced by labour, but surprise suprise quickly axed by a tory led government!

It's £4.80 a session in my local pool...

I agree with the sentiment of over 50's. 9/10 cases they can probably afford to swim themselves...

Maybe it's so the local councillors don't have to pay, how many of them do you see below the age of 50.....
