Hi guys,

I'm having a go at some much needed pointing later, I was thinking of sealing the gap between the patio and brickwork with the same mortar I'll be using for the bricks, is it a good idea? or perhaps dump some gravel in the gap and leave it as that?

By the way, this wall was sitting in 5" of water 2 weeks ago when it hammered it down, I've unblocked a surface drain and fingers crossed it will work, perhaps one of those French drains is in order?

Can't upload a pic for some reason, security error, it's about 1/2" -3/4" gap

Sorry for the long post, it's my first house and I'm trying to get it together

Cheers

Pics would help a lot but i would personally make the gap larger 2-3 inches and dig a trench and drop gravel in there assuming the only water you should have in there is direct rain water and rain water running off the wall.
Obviously your patio should be sloped towards a drain and not be filling this gap.
