Neighbours being unreasonable?

We've got Party wall well under way but that's a good reminder section - Thank you!

So the boundary is half way down the alley? Its likely that you have both acquired an easement over each others land. Though its unclear how they need to access your gate. A picture would help.

You don't say what sort of work you are doing? is this an extension or maintenance?
You could leverage https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1992/23/contents

Personally, I would say "we will do what we reasonably can to minimise the impact" Any claim for damages would likely to be minuscule assuming it didn't end up in a boundary dispute or a court order under the above.

Be careful, if you do need to serve a party wall notice and obtain consent there are many things your neighbour can do to push your costs up.

That's a great comment, thank you. The passage way is shared in terms of access after checking the deeds so we will brief the contractors to be mindful of using it and not to store things along the alley.
