I am trying to replace a damaged handle on my tilt and slide patio door.

I have a new one, but cannot get it to unlock, and I can't even begin to imagine what I can be doing wrong! How many ways are there to turn a key in a lock???

I thought it was defective and had a replacement sent, but same problem.

I can't even get it on the door, because I need to be able to turn the handle to get to the screws in.

My old one, although damaged as I said, still locks and unlocks fine when off the door.

I'm so frustrated, what could I possibly be doing wrong? :(

Have you given the supplier a ring they should be able to help. I assume the key does not need pushing in as it is turned, always possible they have a bin full of wrongly keyed locks too!;)

Thanks for replying!

The provider was useless when I called, but another website (UPVC spares 4 repairs, who I will definitely use instead in future!) advised me not to be scared to be more firm with it.

It turns out they have changed them a bit since my old one was made, even though they look identical on the outside.
My old one had a button that popped out when unlocked, and smoothly rotated through 180. On this one, the button is not supposed to come out and it jerks into the 90 degree positions more.

Being very firm handed I got it open, and have been assured it will be easier to operate when installed!

Thanks again for replying :)
