Hi
The handle on my door keeps becoming loose and eventually falling off. I’ve tried a few repairs using wood filler( see pics) but same issue. Is the door knackered or can it be saved?
Thanks

Pack the holes with something suitable like a dowel coated in everbuild stixall which is a adhesive which will be a permanent repair (if you try to remove the dowels you will destroy the door before removing them).

Requires double ended screws thru door to clamp on handles, not fixing into timber .Should be grub screws on handles to also clamp to door. You should be able to refit same handles.

Who fitted that?
A beaver?
Only solution is a different handle with bigger plate so to cover that mess and have the screws bite in wood.
There are also lots of handles on the market with through bolts that go from one handle to the other, through the door and don't rely on screws biting into the wood.

We have 'through bolts' on the classroom doors in college. I am in the process of going round every classroom/office/storeroom etc and applying a little dab of Loctite Threadlock to them all as constant use is tending to loosen the bolts.
I would therefore recommend applying some to yours when you fit them.
