Brexit benefits

In terms that a losing Europhile like Galahad can understand, the UK had a similar situation in 1945. We got through it and we'll get through this too. Stop fretting. (y)
Another backwards-looking quitter who wants to refight a war from 80 years ago.

You can of course provide proof of that statement?
These countries in Eastern Europe were and still are beneficiaries of huge injections of "EU" cash, this cash was sent to the EU by countries like the UK, the EU then stuck its flag on this cash and claimed it was theirs.
On one hand you could argue that this is a good idea, as by levelling up the living standards in the East it will reduce the incentive to migrate by the poor in these countries.
However rather than raise living standards for East and West the net effect appears to have reduced living standards for those in so called rich countries like GB.

Regards the HGV1 driver shortage, they are lying to you! This is the email I sent to my MP DARREN JONES BRISTOL NORTH July 12th, I received a reply shortly after and a case file has been opened and they assured me they would be in touch within a few weeks, I've still not heard from them,

COPY OF EMAIL I'VE SENT TO MY MP TODAY.

Thanks for coming back to me. As I stated, we're hearing more and more about looming food shortage crisis due to the lack of HGV drivers to transport food and essential goods, due to all the Eastern European drivers returning home.

I now see the green bins are not being collected by Bristol city council for the same reason (which it states on their website).

I, along with hundreds if not thousands of other HGV drivers quit driving a decade ago due to the influx of the Eastern European drivers pushing our wages down.

I've been in touch with the DVLA and have received the forms to renew my HGV1, all l require is a medical certificate which is is no problem. However, a prerequisite for us to drive is to complete a bureaucratic CPC course which was introduced a decade ago which has nothing to do with actual competency of delivering essential goods around the country.

As we are talking about a "national emergency" here, for the good of our country and the necessity of feeding the the nation, surely this is not the time to insist that HGV drivers have this piece of bureaucratic red tape, I'm sure urgency of the situation should nullify this paper exercise?

There are hundreds if not thousands of drivers like myself who would happily come out of retirement to divert this crisis.

This really boils down to, would the politicians rather the country suffers (as if we haven't suffered enough already), or use common sense and waive the bureaucratic CPC course and let's avert this pending catastrophe.

As this is a matter of national urgency I thank you for giving this your immediate attention.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Still swallowing the brexit rhetoric...

The reason that living standards have fallen in the UK is due to home grown (tory) politics

But idiots still keep voting for them!

The UK at one point (aka the 'sick man of europe') was once similarly a beneficiary of European funds...

In order to enhance a rich country's trade it has to be able to trade with other countries who have enough money to buy their 'stuff'...

Anyone who is too stupid to understand that probably voted brexit...

They also probably believe that some people are created more equal! (n)

All this, and £350million a week to the NHS too.

McDonald's runs out of milkshakes in England, Scotland and Wales

See, another benefit of Brexit.

Where do they get their milk from?

And who will suffer from the inability to get the milk to McDonald's?

Oh that's right, UK farmers...

Because brexiteers decided to to decimate the trucking industry...

But after all, brexiteers knew exactly what they were voting for didn't they?

McDonalds are a bit vague on source of milk.

From "Our Milk", bold added by me...

"Every drop of our organic milk is sourced from UK dairy farms" - but what about the non-organic milk?

"Watch the fresh milk we use on its journey from farm to restaurant." - but is there dried / powdered longlife milk also?

My wife worked in McDonalds when she was at College. She said she'd never drink a McDonalds milk shake, and always told me, there is no milk in them!

"What is Mcdonalds chocolate milkshake made of?"
Ingredients: Sugar, Corn Syrup, Water, Glycerin, Cocoa (processed With Alkali), Fruit And Vegetable Juice (color), Salt, Natural Flavors, Potassium Sorbate (preservative)."
Not much milk in a chocolate shake!

Corn Syrup supplies is possibly the biggest issue, looks like it largely comes from America.

I see you have selectively edited the link to give a misleading impression.

The ingredients list is for the Americal product. It actually says:

"Vanilla Reduced Fat Ice Cream

Ingredients: Milk, Sugar, Cream, Corn Syrup, Natural Flavor, Mono and Diglycerides, Cellulose Gum, Guar Gum, Carrageenan, Vitamin A Palmitate.

Contains: Milk.

Chocolate Shake Syrup

Ingredients: Sugar, Corn Syrup, Water, Glycerin, Cocoa (processed With Alkali), Fruit And Vegetable Juice (color), Salt, Natural Flavors, Potassium Sorbate (preservative).

Whipped Light Cream

Ingredients: Cream, Nonfat Milk, Liquid Sugar, Contains 2% or Less: Mono and Diglycerides, Natural Flavors, Carrageenan. Whipping Propellant (Nitrous Oxide).

Contains: Milk."

Furthermore, your link is to the US product.

Poor effort.

If you search via macdonalds.co.uk you will find the GB page. It is not clear if they mean GB or UK, no doubt due to American incomprehension.

free movement has not reduced living standards in the UK

if pay and conditions in HGV driving are poor, perhaps this country shouldnt have turned its back on trade unions.

mottie doesn't care.
I do care about some things. I care that you carry on changing your posts and continue posting new posts in a locked thread for example. I don’t think it’s fair. Tell us how you do that, peeping John?
