Can someone advise just trying to fit an extra light to an outside light have tapped into existing main wire that was there to a light but can’t remember where the blue and brown wire go.I haven’t touched the wires in other switch as they are working ok the switch is for a porch light and outside light.Just can’t remember the blue not going into one of the L’s.
The porch light is also switched on by a hallway light switch.

Please explain more clearly what you have done so far and what you want to achieve.

As I understand it you have installed a new length of cable and connected one end to an additional light fitting. If you want the additional fitting to work as the existing ones already do, you must connect the new cable to the same conductors in the circuit that the other fitting(s) are.

Hi I have wired a new light off the old existing light but the switch for the outside lights won’t power the lights on.
The other switch controls the porch light which is also controlled by a 3 way switch in the hallway.
I lost the picture I took when I disconnected the main cable to the existing outside light.

Wires revised
The blue and brown wires are the ones going to the lights could the switch be at fault don’t ridicule as the blue is connected to a separate block.
Switch on the right is for outside light the other is for porch light works fine.
Also still getting over a 100 bolts coming through the blue cable when the switch is on.

If you wanted the new external light to come on/ go off, simultaneously with the existing outside light ,you only need a cable to go between them. You don't need to do anything at the switch ?
I don't understand your posts to be frank ,can you confirm/ advise on the following..
Have you installed a new cable going from the switch to the new light ?
Have you installed a cable between the new and old lights ?
You tell us you measured voltage 100v at the blue cable ,what instrument are you using to measure voltage ?
Can you take voltage readings at the 3 switch terminals ?( Right hand switch)

When you measure a voltage you have to say between which two points the voltage was observed. Voltages don't mean anything in isolation.

Hi terryplumb
Yes there’s a new cable to the new light via the wire from the switch to connector for both light cables.
The voltage on the right switch the com is 240 when the switch is on the brown in L3 is 240 when in off position it’s 0 the blue is reading over 100 volts.
This using a multimeter with negative on back plate and positive on terminal.

The neutral wire to the light fitting you have added .......

At the switch, what is it connected to?

The neutral for the light must connect to the neutral in the circuit.
Light switches do not generally have any neutral connection. Some circuit arrangements may have the neutrals in a separate terminal behind the switch but that's also fairly unusual on older installations.

Your descriptions so far of what was there and what you have done are inconsistent and elusive.

If there is to be any hope of help here then please answer
Did the existing outside light turn on/off when operating the switch?
What cables/wires are there between this switch and the existing outside light? Is it a single cable from the switch to the light, or is there some other junction box/connector elsewhere?
What have you actually altered / added / changed - as in all of it, not just the wires at the switch.

Hi no the sensor lights stopped working so I thought it was the lights so I replaced two lights either side of my front door.
One of which was a replacement for an original light.
So my thoughts were that I could wire another one in on the other side of the door.
So I found the original cable going from the old light fitted a new cable for the new light fitted cut the old cable making a connection for the new cable.
I cut the cable to make the joint about six inches from the switch replaced with new cable before which I took a photo of where the blue and brown wires went to but lost the photo.
So now I have tried various connections to no avail.
I have checked the wire at the lights it is receiving current so I have the right cable and have replaced the switch.
Just can’t remember if the blue was sleeved and went into a connection on the other switch.
