Does anyone know a heating engineer in the Huddersfield area who will flush my system and top up with inhibitor after I've dosed it with cleaner for a couple of weeks ... trying to find someone who doesn't spend half an hour trying to sell me power/magna or Rhino milk clean ...

just do it yourself, nothing hard about doing it, what cleaner did you use ?

None as yet. I'm having bathroom done next week, I was going to ask the fitter to add some x400 to the towel rail, leave it a couple of weeks then get someone in to drain/flush and add inhibitor.
Reason i'm doing it is because EV was replaced on boiler under warranty and engineer was saying if water is dirty the warranty won't be honored by Worcester in future

sadly that is a standard answer, with far too many, manufacturers and big business players , some even say that cover will end if the flush is not carried out by them, it is a con to be honest, if leaving in a for a few weeks X 400 will be fine, but dont leave X800 in for any length of time , X400 then drained and x100 added will be fine , a little bit of X400 being left in wont do any harm

Cheers for that, x400 it is then. What diameter of hose will I need to drain down from a standard radiator drain cock? (I need about 5 meters in length). Tried looking for drain down hose but £30 plus for a one off is a bit rich for my blood .... also something see through would be better for me ...

standard garden hose will do, but if it is a rad drain cock chances are you have a drop feed system (stone floors) and wont drain the whole system, post some pics of what you have

Thanks mate for the help, I will have to do it tomorrow, from memory its in a cupboard just to the left of the of the radiator in the kitchen (which is the basement). The combi is on the wall about 4 ft higher than that.
Reason it will have to wait is cupboard is blocked in by a dryer which is in use by the missus!
I have noticed before that people don't seem to keen to use it once I tell them where its located and use the drain off under the boiler instead .... even when I say I'll shift the dryer ...

That may well be fine, the drain off at the boiler will only drain the water to the level of the boiler, so you will still have a lot of origional system water left in there, drain off points have to be at the lowest point of the system, but so many different systems, if you have stone floors with drop feeds, you will need more drain points , post some pics of what you have

Will do .. and again thanks for all the help ...

This is the drain cock (i think) its about 3" (at best) below the level of the valves on the lowest rad in the house .... house is nearly 300 yrs old and I suspect this hasn't been touched since then ....

yes that should be fine to use, it may well be jammed though , but with a bit of patience you will get it to open

Thats what I thought hopefully a bit of wd40 will budge it .....so is it a case of filling and draining a few times then adding inhibitor on final fill?

just completely drain, then add inhibitor and fill the system, if any X400 is remaining it wont harm your system, it is not as aggressive as some others, best to get the system as hot as you can before draining, if you want you can do it a few times, but adding fresh oxygenated water constantly is not a great idea, WD 40 wont work on the drain point, if the square hex key comes out and the washer stays stuck, you will need long nose pliers to pull it out, nothing unusual we have to do it all the time
