I want to level four corner supports for a shipping container using a laser level.
My question is if I am using one particular corner as the "start" point and levelling the others to it I assume that I measure from the levels laser lens to the ground ( concrete) as it will be on a tripod and take this away from where the laser line is on the other corners to make the ground level equal on them all ? Hopefully what I saying makes sense !
Thanks

Is this a spinning laser? If so then set it in the middle, use yr stick to measure from beam to ground at all 4 corners. Don't forget you need to make sure your measuring stick is vertical in both planes....and that the laser is level (the spinners I've worked with won't spin if they aren't level, which is handy)

There are people a lot more experienced than me at using laser levels here, but this is my take and I am happy to be proved wrong!

This is assuming you are building level support pillars for the shipping container, and not levelling the container in-situ.

The greatest benefit to using a laser level is not having to measure!
If your laser level is set-up in the middle of the site and set to the final level of the first support pillar, you just build the other pillars (or mark-out) upto the line.
You could measure the height of the line at the other corners, but you don't really need to know the height of the laser lens.
Have you seen any videos about using laser levels?
You may also need to consider the use of a laser receiver, as the line might not be very visible in bright daylight (or mark-out at night!).

Alternatively, some coloured water in a clear pipe does the job just as well and can be seen in daylight! :)

Beat me to it! :)

Knock a piece of timber in the ground near to each corner, or set something up that you can mark on.

Mark a level line on each timber, at any desired height, using any desired level. This is the datum.

Measure equally down (or up) from each datum to set the level.
