Boot latch not catching

Hello. So the boot can be opened without touching the release handle and cant be locked.
Does anyone know if the bit thats in the door should latch and stay latched if you push it up with your finger? If so I think that must need replacing.

If so, the fixed bracket on the lip of the boot is adjustable, if that has come loose and been pushed down, it will be difficult/ impossible to get it to latch. They are usually fixed by a couple of bolts. Loosen those and you should be able to adjust it up and down. Too high and the boot lid will not seal properly, too low and the boot lid will not latch down.

When you say press release are you talking about the key fob? And do you mean tugging the screwdriver down? If so there's no resistance to pulling out down that bit won't lock at all.

What ever you would normally have to do, to release the boot to open it - combined with pulling the screwdriver down. The hook part in the lock, should then latch in the unlocked position - it may need a bit of an extra push with the screwdriver, to get it to latch in the open position.
