Hi does anyone have any experience of replacing the two rubber bump stops on the boot of an mk2 Ford Focus? The part number is 1354972. Its an 09 Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec. It looks like each is held one with two bolts but each has a small circular hole in the centre in which no bits seem to fit. Do you have to access it from behind to remove these? Thanks.

The hole you mention isn’t a peg, by any chance - possibly a tamper proof torx screw?
A photo would be great if you can.
John :)

Interesting. I'll probably leave it then, I'm sure I could drill it out but I've no idea what size rivet to get to replace these once they're out.

I’d drill the rivet head off with a 5mm HSS drill bit, punch the remains through and fix the new stop on with a 5mm pop rivet.

Hi it's the class dunce here again... I've drilled one out, seemed easy enough, and got some replacement stops. I guess the only way to install a new pop rivet is to also purchase a rivet gun? I'm not sure I'll have the clearance to get in and install it without the boot trim getting in the way, but I guess the only way to find out is to purchase one and give it a go.

For sure, it’s going to be a bit tight in there.....does the rubber bit pull off by any chance?
John :)

Hi I thought I would post an update - I

did exactly what you recommended John and got some pop rivets and a hand gun, access was tight but luckily the seal was able to be moved out of the way. The old stops fell apart as I was getting them out, I've fitted new ones and now it looks much better. Thanks for your help
