Space/gap between rear semi-detached extensions

You need to see the leaves in my garden at the moment and we are not properly into autumn yet..

The gap between extensions is not some sort of leaf magnet and I doubt that leaves landing on lawn correlate to leaves between extensions.

Now, I'm by no means the extension-gap meister, but I have seen more that the average John, and they all seem to have been pretty vacant.

Just to offer some recent experience having my rear extension built. I was concerned over the distance between next door's extension (been there nearly 50 years) and our proposed extension, in that I wasn't sure how close we could build their's. Builder and BCO said we were fine to build to within 50mm of the boundary, and that a lead bridge between the two roofs would be fine. My concerns over debris and damp were dismissed based on their experience.

There comes a time when you need to make a stand.

We are somewhat converging to a commonplace solution proposed out there. It does not appear they propose 'do nothing' as that solution.

In my initial quote on the matter I asked:
"While researching on issue of damp, I read from a surveyor the proposed solution for debris and damp prevention, is by way of lead flashing chasing our side wall render and bridge on their roof. So that it seals the highest point between walls to prevent things falling in."

Even Woody proposes a similar approach 5 years ago, not sure why you disagree now:

Neighbours are trying to mitigate but they may not necessarily understand building issues as they are very new to this. I am not convinced a plastic gutter proposed by their builder is a great long term solution as opposed to the lead bridge. Gutters leak and warp.

Should I pursue further discussion with them/their builder and insist it should be carried out as above?

I do not want to argue on the matter, certainly not with my new neightbours, but it won't be their builder who is around in few years time when we find out. And if any issues arise, cowboy builder No.2 will be turning up to lead bridge the upper point of the roofs....at my expense

I can only assume that not only does Woody live somewhere with little wind and few, if any, deciduous trees, he also knows nothing about the way that winds and structures can interact to produce low-pressure areas, vortexes etc.
