Reattach ceiling plasterboard tape

Hi all,

I’ve a 3 year old remodelled bath wall that’s been tiled up to the ceiling. The edge was siliconed over and it seems the ceiling side is bonded not against plasterboard but some kind of corner or edge taping. Seems the silicone has dried and shrunken and in doing so, pulls at the tape and the tape adhesive on the ceiling is coming off. I read advice online to somehow apply adhesive and then paint over. I thought maybe put another row of tape layering over the old one. Anyone have any suggestions and tips? Also, any suggestions on products? I’d like to not have to do this again in 3 years. Cheers.

I would open up the crack to a few mm where it's narrower than that, and cut a line at right angles to the end as a stop.
Then apply filler, having vacuumed the crack, maybe several layers.

Stopping the run is a good idea. Do you mean to then cut off the tape that’s sticking out and then apply layers to even it out? So cut off the ends, slice the tape off by cutting a line close and parallel to the wall leaving a thin long rectangular shape and then fill that in?

pretty much
cut the tape with a sharp blade, cross the crack to stop the crack getting bigger (a whizz with a large drill bit might do?)
Then apply filler and sand
