Powered shower air lock?

Hi,

Recently bought a property with a powered shower pump (a Salamander).

Every now and the pump doesn’t kick in and no water comes out of the shower. However if I open up the sink tap briefly it kicks in. Assuming this is some kind of air lock or pressure issue? Its only intermittent. Any thoughts on how to sort this long term?
