Hello...bought a house in France...built in 1972.

Am a little puzzled as to how the internal walls have been plastered.

Where the wall is damaged, on first appearance it looked like very thick wallpaper but I see now its some sort of mesh...seems to peel off easily..and then under that just looks like plaster ??.......attached three photos.

And once you can explain what is going on...best way to repair ?

Thanks.

Hi...yes....I think so...
BUT the walls are block and the "scrim" completely covers the wall..I thought you only used it for plasterboard joints ?????

I've seen that, I have an idea it is supposed to hide cracked walls.

I would be more inclined to hack back to the stone, repoint, and dry line (adding insulation on external walls)

Thanks John...had not thought of that...BUT my experience of "Artisans" in France has been grim...so I guess I should have thought of it.
