Morning,
Blonde moment!
probably straight forward but I just want to double check a few things from Drawings.
I have supporting wall, 2 stories high, i.e goes the full height of the house in a detached 1920's house.
There's a normal 2 door width opening in the supporting wall with a concrete lintel over. I want to increase the size of the opening to 3.8 meters and have been instructed to fit a 203x133x25 UB RSJ. One end will sit on 7N/mm2 dense concrete blocks single skin. The other end needs to sit on a pier of 225x327.
Ive had drawings and structural calcs done but i'm unsure of the pier sizes and cant quite determine the information.
How do I achieve that pier size using 7N Dense Blocks as per calcs?
The beam, as I can make out is 133mm wide therefore will overhang the single skin wall by 33mm and the other end is confusing since a dense concrete block is 100mm wide, 215 high and 427 long. Obviously I assume this will need to be tied to the existing solid gable wall so I'd lose 100mm giving me the 327 but where does the 217 come from?
Thanks
