Hi. I have a honeywell alarm system that started chirping away 2 nights ago. I have switched off the transformer at the socket and also disconnected the battery but it is still chirping away. Can anyone explain why please?
it very likely has a rechargeable battery inside the bell box, maintained from the supply at the control box. It could be failing due to age.
Wireless systems are pretty sure to have replaceable batteries (some have a solar cell to charge it)
A bell/siren box has a battery inside it to raise the alarm if someone tries to cut its cable to silence it, in preparation for breaking into the house.
If it's a Honeywell Renson8, get rid of it and change bell box.I would replace with Pyronix Delta bell E/Plus.
The cost of a Sab battery is equivalent to the price of a new bell box, plus the reassurance the the fault has been sorted.
