My genius of a son has been having fun posting toys into the back of our gas fireplace, it's a Flavel Windsor. We inherited it on moving in, so have no idea how it works.

Will I need to get a gas engineer in to remove it and retrieve the toys from behind it?

Possibly agree with tigercubrider, but if they’re not coming out, then yes if they’re in the catchment space, will need a gas safe registered engineer to remove the fire. Those inset fires can be awkward to remove, especially if fitted with a cable fixing kit.
