Bathroom underfloor heating thermostat in the "wrong" room.

Hello all!

So, I have water underfloor heating (UFH) throughout my flat, except a bathroom which has electric UFH (lower profile for a very low ceiling height, in hindsight a big mistake but so be it).

The thermostat for the bathroom is obviously outside the bathroom so the sensor is picking up an irrelevant temperature. i.e. the temp in the bathroom could be 15 degrees, but even if the thermostat is set to 20, it will never come on - the thermostat is in the hallway, and the air temperature there is always at least 20 when I'm at home.

The thermostat (a Prowarm one) has a floor sensor as well, but works very poorly from what I can tell.

I can't legally move the thermostat inside the bathroom, but is there any way to connect an air sensor that is located inside the bathroom? Maybe a different thermostat that has some sort of wifi connected air sensor?

Hope this makes sense!

Ha, because then it will be on 100% of the time and will never switch off - the hallway temperature (which is the air temperature it reads), will never get to 25.

Actually, I think I've found a different thermostat which has remote air sensor to be placed wherever you want. Problem hopefully solved!

You say that the current floor sensor doesn't work very well. Assuming that it actually works, and that the floor is too cold, why not just turn the thermostat up? Unless someone has calibrated the room thermostat, it might as well say "1 to 10" on the LCD.

The control box should be set to use the 'in-floor' sensor only.

to have a warm room set the floor to 2 to 3 degrees warmer than you want the air temp.

do not use the air temp sensor in the controller.

if you cannot disable the air sensor then you have been sold the incorrect controller.

In my limited experience, the air temperature option exists for the occasions where the floor probe has failed. I have never come across one that does both simultaneously. It has only ever been either or.

Thanks opps & wgt52!

You are right in that I can select either the floor sensor, the air sensor, or both (not sure how the combo would work in practice, but never mind),

Air sensor - in this case irrelevant, as it is located outside the bathroom, so will measure an irrelevant temperature. (as a reference point, due to the location of the bathroom/building layout), it can be 21 deg in the hallway just outside the bathroom, but the bathroom itself will be 15 deg.

Floor probe - should work in theory, but I've found it inconsistent and impossible to gauge (consistently) where to set it.

For what it's worth, all my other thermostats/zones with the water UFH system work very well with the air sensor.
