Whole life tariff

So now the tax payer has to cough
Up hundreds of thousands of pounds to look after his welfare for the next X amount of years

guilty of an appalling crime

most he should get in prison is a week at best

than he is taken to a designated place and dispatched

personally I would get him to dig his own grave first
I don't subscribe to capital punishment for a variety of reasons, although I fully understand why some do. In a way, if people like this are 'dispatched' they've had an easy way out. Let them live in prison for the remainder of their life I say, even if it costs us to keep them there.

Have never said it’s a deterrent
Fair enough - people advocating it often do.

retribution is the order of the day fir appalling cruelty to a young woman same for several other appalling shocking cases of late

no doubt to guilt bump em off
As I said, a state which kills people in vengeance is not a civilised one.

Is this why some do?

zero interest in your civilised BS

There's a case we're all aware of in the news at present. A case where a completely innocent victim was kidnapped, raped and murdered. Investigations have shown the crime was without doubt premeditated and the victim was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I watched a news piece yesterday and the reporter said 'in sentencing, the judge will have at their disposal the option of giving a whole life tariff.'

In cases such as this, I simply cannot get my head around why a whole life tariff wouldn't be given. However I won't hold my breath.

Totally agree. There should be no question of anything other sentence

doubt full
his lawyer said he was appalled at what he had done full of remorse

and did not deserve a full life tariff

in any event I don’t care tbh

prior to his execution he would have medical tests to see if his organs could be used to help others via transplants

if there was no match than perhaps he could be kept in jail untill some needy person came to light ?

he would die knowing that some good had come out of his worthless life

Would that really stop People murdering each other , it hasnt in the past .

Fact is pretty much any person
(Woman ) would have complied and got into that cousins car

plod now have a serious dilemma

With a Death Sentence comes...
- The risk we kill the wrong person.
- Criminals stopping at nothing to get away, killing everyone in there path.
- A hell of a lot more spent on legal costs dealing with appeals.

China executes more people per capita than any other state (who reports), they still have rapists, murders organised crime etc.

In what way, public not trusting them? At the end of the day we have to place our trust in them, when little Johnny or Jenny goes missing who do we run to for help? Couzins is a one off, same as others out there in society. And lets not forget they did a brilliant job in apprehending Couzins so quickly as they have seemed to have done in another recent case.

Unfortunately the man who raped and killed 2 little girls in the 80s is now running free, I'd prefer him dead.

My opinion is that the death sentence is no longer the deterrent it was. In days of old being executed meant the deceased person's soul would suffer eternal pain and damnation in the fires of hell. This was what the church said and people generally believed the church's teachings.

The reality of death is the end of the person and their soul, good or bad there is no eternity of happiness or torment after death..

This could lead some criminals to see execution as a welcome alternative to a life in prison. How many murderers commit suicide rather than face a life in prison ?.

So for convicted murderers why not give their body a life of unbearable pain and damnation in a harsh prison environment ?

They could be made to work for their food and heating.

A lot of roads in America were built by slave labour in the chain gangs of prison inmates. Some prisons made a financial profit by hiring out chain gangs to local road building companies.

It would be necessary to accept that convicted murderers would give up their human rights in the same way they took away their victim's human rights.

I wonder if those who call for the death penalty would be prepared to be the executioner?

When it comes to it, I bet not!

And a staggeringly incompetent negligent job in identifying him as a sex offender before he got to the stage of raping and murdering someone.
