We know things are worse in Europe and your link shows the true purpose of the EU experiment, surprised at your comment about the Tories though. If I chart my adult life under various regimes, Tory, Labour, Tory, Labour, I was always better off under a Tory Govt.
My parents (God rest their souls) were diehard Labour socialists, it gave them a decent home and a living wage, different era though.

I was responding to Notch7's claim that the Tories suppress wages, i pointed out that even if they are suppressing wages, that doesn’t change the nature of the EU.

With the 5,000 visas for drivers I did toy with the idea that Johnson knew he had to appear to be doing something, but had to severely limit it to appease the rabid hard Brexers. Then he may quietly increase the limit and extend it beyond Xmas.

"The Government has also announced that a temporary visa scheme for nearly 5,000 foreign food haulage drivers, which was due to expire on December 24, will be extended to the end of February, following criticism of its attractiveness to drivers."

Johnson hits out at ‘cheap foreign drivers’ as London fuel shortages worsen

So predictable!

Blojo is virtually reversing part of Brexit and admitting that it is unworkable and a mistake. He's already dragging his heels on implementing EU>UK border import checks because he know he doesn't have the staff and it will be total chaos at our ports. Contrast that to The EU (looking better all the time) who started preperations for UK>EU imports years ago and were ready with implementing checks on Jan 1st.

Also trying to tear up the WA and renegotiate it and wants to do something similar with NI protocol. What a completely embarassing, amateurish $h1tshow! How many other u-turns on Brexit will he be making? Big red bus isn't the ideal vehicle for such manoeuvres. :ROFLMAO:

The biggest laugh is Tories going cap in hand to any country that will listen, in the hope that someone will give them a one-sided trade deal that offers us very little. Deals that are often no better, or sometimes worse, than the deals we had in The EU. Who would do business with UK PLC, run by charlatans that want to renege on everything?

As I explained in another thread, it is the haulage firms and the agencies that have avoided tax and caused this debacle. The govt. repeatedly said IR35 is coming, brace yourselves.

I much prefer an independent view than your one-sided, opinionated view that is more then likely based on lies and fabrication.
Here's another person's view:
20 reasons why there is shortage of drivers in the UK Posted on 19 July 2021

Notice the date, at least one month before the brown stuff really hit the fan.

Drivers are for life, not just for Christmas.

And
Life is better with some drivers.

Boris is saying that only 127 people have applied for the visas to work here, therefore we have evidence that it's not a UK problem it's a world problem.

What a pathetic thing to say. No dear, they don't have much of an issue in the EU, but, in particular, the HGV drivers don't want to come HERE.

Who does he think he's kidding?
Who does he think won't see him as a tw@t?

-------------------------------------------------------------------

He's saying we don't want to go back to mass immigration to get workers we need.

No dear, we need permits to be issued where we have a problem, particularly a temporary one. Not the same thing as mass immigration.

Who does he think he's kidding?
Who does he think won't see him as a tw@t?
