Oh, it's a torygraph story. The text says "put on hold" which has been changed to "blocks" to arouse your excitement.

So when are they joining John? , if not soon, why has it been 'put on hold'? why are they worried about 'foreigners' coming into their countries and lowering living standards? why's Napoleon so opposed to it?

Any idea how long they been waiting so far, in years? (Serbia: 10 years. Montenegro: 11 years. North Macedonia: 14 years)
Now Napoleon has even blocked a target date of 2030.

Is it fake news John?

"..Matthew Lesh, head of research at free market think tank the Adam Smith Institute, said: "Boris's rhetoric was bombastic but vacuous and economically illiterate.."

Sums it up I guess.

Fake news?

"Boris Johnson claims he 'didn't say anything about Turkey during Brexit campaign', despite warning about Turkey during Brexit campaign
Former foreign secretary says he ‘made no remarks about Turkey’ despite having done so multiple times"

"In October, Mr Erdogan said Turkey no longer had a "need" for EU membership but refused to walk away from discussions, saying: "We will not be the side which gives up."
13-year-long talks (in 2018) have ground to a halt."

So that makes it 16 years...

Given the facts, can you tell us why was the (unfounded) 'fear' of Turkey's membership of the EU used to embolden the xenophobes in the EU referendum campaign?

“..The public will soon tire of Boris’s banter if the government does not get a grip of mounting crises: price rises, tax rises, fuel shortages, labour shortages. There was nothing new in this speech, no inspiring new vision or policy,” its chief executive, Ryan Shorthouse, said.."

Certainly hit the mark with this fella.(y)

Turkish folk are generally much darker than gammons, therefore - to be feared.

Most folk are happy to see Turkey absorb the brunt of migrant crossings and bung 'em a few quid to keep quiet.

"They're all coming to the UK", I hear the flag-shaggers cry. Lol.

Labour are a complete shambles, Boris is living the dream at the moment with no credible opposition.

What is it that the left disagree with our prime minister. great speech

Fantastic

Boris Blue Sky thinking:

the great British worker must become highly skilled in order to do the unskilled jobs of the immigrants our great brexit govt got rid of.

I particularly liked the parts about getting away from a low wage/low growth mentality

Hey Filly are you that naive?

it is pure Brexit propaganda

The UK is having a considerable economic hit because of a shortage of EU workers…..so the Boris gaslighting is to con people like you into believing that’s all part of the plan.

These are the jobs UK is short of:

care staff
hospital cleaners
waitresses
Chefs
Meat processors
Delivery drivers
Fruit pickers
Veg pickers

Please tell me what skills you would give British people to make those jobs more productive.

It seemed like such a spaffing good show. The dancing bear at the end was particularly entertaining with his whiffle; drooling and burbling with bonhomie for the general glee of the crowd of selected sycophants, montebanks and gurning pyssants.
The doomsters and gloomsters in the CBI tried to pour cold water on his content-lite waffle, but the Tory faithful have long since stopped listening to such sense and contendedly applauded the dancing bear til the bitter end.

they arent.

please stop believing utter bolox.

heres the truth, which you couldve found from 2 mins googling.............

Macedonia
While it has fulfilled the criteria for beginning entry talks, EU member Bulgaria opposes North Macedonia's inclusion because of a dispute over language and national identity.

Albania
Since the Albanian and North Macedonian bids are linked and launching accession talks requires unanimous approval from all EU nations, Sofia's veto has also prevented Albania from moving forward

Montenegro
Montenegro applied for EU membership in 2008. Accession talks, which have begun in 2012, are advanced.

33 screened chapters have been opened, and three are provisionally closed. The biggest hurdles remain corruption, organised crime and the health of the economy.

EU Membership is so far scheduled for 2026 for the small Balkans nations

Serbia
Serbia submitted its application for EU membership in 2009. Accession talks started in 2014 but lingering tensions between Serbia and Kosovo have held up the process.

Kosovo
Kosovo is a potential candidate for EU membership.

Five EU members — Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Slovakia and Spain — do not recognise Kosovo as a country.

Bosnia
But according to a European Parliament briefing note, "internal political instability and lack of political reforms have dampened the country's prospects of joining the EU."

I don't think he is desperate to renegotiate, I think he will tell them to **** off. I doubt Napoleon will will come after us with his EU army.:p

In the speech did he mention Gas prices or energy costs?
