Boiler cyclinder leak - Can anyone confirm the worst please?

I have a leak from my Ariston Primo ITI 210 cylinder. I have been told that its unserviceable and been quoted £1200 for a supply and fit for a Worcester replacement. On inspection I can see the leak seems to be coming from from the bottom of the thermostat box (if that's the name for it!) where it meets the black connector. (see the bottom picture in the middle). Could it not be that the tank itself is ok but just an issue with that thermostat box/connector?

A quick search brough up a replacement kit for £61.20

It's so annoying if the tank needs replacement as it has a 25 year warranty but we had no idea it needed an annual service.

We do have day jobs, you know

The thermostat is a "dry pocket" design and I'm not sure whether the pocket is replaceable on these. There are two small securing screws on the thermostat itself though, so it can be taken out to inspect the pocket behind it. I'd recommend turning the power off before doing that. If water has leaked into the stat you could get a shock off it.

thanks alot - I've just found a picture of what it looks like at the back and what you say makes sense, I guess I'm clutching at straws! As I'm afraid to touch the thing, and create a bigger leak (!), I will ask the fella who has quoted for the repair to inspect it, in case its not the cylinder at fault as he hasn't actually seen it yet. Does £1224 sound right for a supply and fit for a new Worcester SC210 Cylinder?

It's there or thereabouts, a bit less than I'd charge for that cylinder, not that I fit anything with Worcester written on the side if I can help it... I recommend Joule Cyclone cylinders
