Hello all. My first post. Im a single mum and do a lot of DIY myself. I'm looking to install a dishwasher in the space of an existing kitchen unit. Unit looks straightforward to remove as it's at the end with a support remaining. My problem is power. I used my phone camera to get behind the unit and this is what was found. Does this look like a power cable? Just looking to find out before I phone an electrician.

Thanks

Yes.

It looks like someone has put the wiring in ready in case a dishwasher is to be added.

This is a common thing on housing association properties and similar, where there is a chance improvements will be made in the future.

The question is, where is the other end of the cable?

Any switches above the worktops that don't appear to do anything?

If so, the cable may be behind the switch.

Also, don't assume the cable you have photographed is dead, it may not be.

There is an unused spur switch so I wonder if it could be connected to that?

Removed the cupboard today and the cable is live. Got electrician coming. Shocked a cable was left like that? It's a fairly new build private home

What did you use to establish the cable is live ?
Good call to get an electrician in.
