After replacing a rad I noticed how badly the system needs cleaning.

I've read good things about magnaflow's so want to install one. I have a boilermate 2000 (where there is no space at all), so above the boiler seems the appropriate place.

the instructions suggest installing on the return to the boiler, is this the same with a boilermate?

Looks possible but a bit tight

Yeah you won't get one in there, not if you want to maintain it anyway. You can install it on the system return to the Boilermate. Your system almost certainly doesn't have enough inhibitor in it. Worth flushing the whole lot out then dosing it correctly

I would suggest it just about looks possible, assuming you were willing to revise the layout of that flow pipe - though not with the present pipe layout.....

If that dogleg in the pipe were made lower/ closer to the top of the boiler and a cut-out made in top of that cupboard unit, to allow the Magaclean to sit partially in the cupboard - then it would just go in and be serviceable too.

Brilliant thanks. Doesn't sound too difficult :)

It probably won't be too long.. which is why I want to install the magnaflow now. Couple of flushes, get all the crap out.

It's quite important to have a clean system, with the newer boilers - they have much smaller, narrower water passages, much easier to become blocked.
