Firstly the sounders are multi purpose. They issue the setting tones when the alarm is being armed. They put out a chime when the entry door is opened so that you know someone is entering, they are supposed to sound a chime when someone pushes the front door bell push and most importantly they emit at full volume the alarm if the system is triggered. All these functions need different volumes but muffling the sounders would muffle the alarm which is supposed to disorientate any intruder. The setting tones can be made quieter so it must follow that the alarm sounding is a separate function but the door entry may be treated as an alarm and tied to the high security alarm function only adjustable by the engineer. I don 't believe the two functions should be treated as being the same level of security but there is no one at Texecom who will speak to alarm owners for me to discuss it. They only talk to installers who they see as their customers.

You may have the wrong type of sounder fitted for your installation purpose.
Post photo of said sounder and this may help you cause.

These are original equipment from the previous system. There are three.

You may struggle with the chime on the lowest setting with that speaker !
I take it that’s an existing speaker from the previous system ?
