Heat pumps........yeah right !

Well, like electric cars, I'll be getting the most from my existing boiler and wait until the new non-gas ones are cheaper to buy and install than any alternative. Until then, gas it is!

I wonder if there will be a black market in gas boilers and illegal heating engineers operating ...

Older houses with solid walls ? What do you do ? Panel out the inside walls over the entire house ?

Yes. Well, I've stuck 50mm insulation board to all my external walls, from the inside. The old part of the house also needs to be rendered (most of old pebbledash is blown, piles of sandy dust everywhere) and thinking of boarding outside too.

I can't fit an ashp or a gshp in my house, there isn't anyplace to put the pump assembly,

I'll end up with an electric boiler no doubt that would cost too much to run..

However I don't think we are done with has, the boiler manufacturers will lobby government and we'll be keeping them and switching to hydrogen.

You heating engineers will be very busy installing upgrade kits or installing new hydrogen boilers..

In some part of the Uk they offered to install free heat pumps to people

all seemed a good idea untill people realised the amount disruption it would need in there house

Floors up bigger pipes
Loss of space so as to fit a cylinder and buffer tank
And all the other hoo haa
very few bothered :)

Counterintuitive maybe. A well insulated building is no different to a thermos flask. If it will keep heat in in winter it will keep heat out in the summer. It's how you use the building. In summer we throw open doors and windows to 'keep cool'. And all that lovely warm air wafts in...

Is that why it's even more hotter in the loft in the summer?

All these ashp installs

Oh dear

could be one of the biggest scam / rip offs

in the UKs history :ROFLMAO:

jeez us wept :ROFLMAO:

It is. Just how diesel cars have cheaper tax than petrol cars yet diesel is supposed to be bad.

And to think, Bozza was against and constantly ridiculing anything green when he was a columnist. Also a remainer. Basically he just says what he thinks people want to hear and changes his 'principles' as easily and regularly as people change their socks.

And seemingly rational people on here still take him seriously.

Also, why are we martyring ourselves and trying to set an example, while the rest of the world carries on polluting? Brexit + high energy costs + draconian green laws = exodus of businesses.

I'm not normally one for conspiracy theories and the like, however I wonder if this green agenda and the delivering of it will result in some very significant supply/transition contracts? If yes, it'll be interesting to see who these end up being awarded to ...

Yeah, like the green deal thing, where you have to use the chosen installers. If it is so important, why not just give insulation to DIYers?

(I've still not got over paying £120 for 2 sheets of 50mm Kingspan!)
