Evening.

Just had a new ideal boiler installed with halo.

All setup, however I can't find the app on the Google Playstore, the instructions just say search for "ideal halo" and install the app. But I can't find it. Has anyone had this issue?

Got a friend to check on the apple store and it comes up straight away annoyingly.

I spoke to Ideal technical services they also couldn't find the app on the Google playstore (rang at 8:30am promised a phone call back from their Halo team of specialists) by 3:30 I hadn't heard anything so I rang them again, to be promised that they would ring me in 5-10 minutes....still waiting

I just hope I haven't made a mistake going with Ideal.

Afraid I have only ever heard of HALO on Apple products never on anything else, but Im not any kind of expert on Ideal stuff

That's a shame, he was a really helpful knowledgeable chap
Totally agree, there was a fall out in the CC about something, dont really remember what it was all about, so many have left recently

Seems to happen with the knowledgeable guys quite often.

There's always some knob who thinks he is god's gift and knows bugger all, pretty similar to himmy or hard-work, is he still around?

Anyone remember Dan Robinson? He was a top lad..

I must stress that this is simply my own personal view, but I think all Manu smart controls are absolte crap, yet to see one I would recommend, I am an agent for, and install mostly for one or two manus, would I recommend ther propiatory controls ? never

Unfortunately though some brands don't let you use the opentherm ability without using their own proprietary kit.

I think veissman had issues with Honeywell kit being installed, I know of baxi having issues with opentherm using a nest, possibly others.

When I wanted a boiler because I wanted opentherm there were few brands to choose from that I knew it actually fully worked on

Yesterday evening I thought I'd stay and watch Math of the Day so went to BeSMART to set for extra hour only to find RIE in the display (system pressure low between 0.3 and 0.6bar).

Press and hold Mode/Escape for four seconds allowed 10 seconds of water into the system.

The boiler looked at that for ten seconds to see if it dropped (if it drops the sequence ends), it didn't so it allowed water to top up the pressure to 1.2 bar.

This might sound like a gimmick but if you knew the amount of cr*p my wife puts between me and the filling loop you'd know how smug I was.

Genuinely surprised that the servers were actually up mate, I didnt mention BeSMART, you did, have to say possibly the most unreliable control I have ever come across, not the control itself, the infrastructure that supposedly supports it

The infrastructure is being worked on at the moment but yes, you're right, the server is unreliable. Up more than down by a large margin but not reliable enough for sure.

Having conceded that, no way to avoid it, it has genuinely surprised me how much people rely on an app (any brand app). Even if the server is working I wouldn't fire up the app to alter something even though I remain logged on to mine at home so it's only a press on the icon, I just walk to the room unit and make any adjustment there and frankly that is extremely rare anyway, I guess that's an age thing.

Comfort level, activity level, economy overnight, one button press for override and another for extra hour if necessary. Not an advert for BeSMART but would apply that to any control.

As for talking to a heating control, give me a break, talking to sentient or semi-sentient humans is hard enough, talking to a thermostat (and googles server elsewhere) is for another type of person altogether.
