Yeah this is the interesting part. Most industry people are saying guns are usually pointed slightly away from the target (then sorted post production, use of camera angles etc) or if the scene requires the gun to be pointed directly at someone, shields are usually used.

Even with all of that, she wasn't an actor in the movie, so it's a strange one.

Regardless, I think in this day and age their use of 'prop' guns that still have the capacity to kill needs to stop.

sounds like neither of them actually looked.

The director should have opened it, and showed the actor it was empty, before handing it to him.
 
I heard once that when people are accidentally shot, it is usually with a gun that "wasn't loaded. Definitely. I always check. It couldn't have been. Couldn't happen. Never."

When passing a firearm to someone, you always show them it is unloaded, as you pass it.

You never point an activated ( capable of live fire ) firearm, at anyone, under any circumstances, unless you mean to shoot them.
 
Blanks are obviously blanks and blank firing guns obvious too. I guess they don’t want to make a western where the baddy clutches his chest and falls from the roof without even a spec of blood.

The last thing on the black box flight recorder according to my pilot mates is usually “no, I think it’s ok”

Or for the film and theatre members, which is more relevant to this case.

I am indeed very knowledgeable with regards to firearms, guns (& such stuff) have always been a major part of my life thus far & I have consciously never persued my involvement with them as a means of income. I tried to stay away from the 'shoot' this morning 'cos I knew it would be all about Alec (bloody) Baldwin but I didn't . . . . We had a brief chat about it & dismissed it, because we cannot stop stupid happening no matter what we do.

Something went HORRIBLY wrong here, you cannot imagine just how HORRIBLY wrong it went unless you too have personally experienced a similar situation, & most folk who are or have ever been involved with firearms will have a few tales to tell . . . .

I posted my "comedy gold" comment because most of the bollux some of you have contributed so far on this thread is indeed COMEDY GOLD. It would be funny if it wasn't in such tragic circumstances !

There you go chaps. There's enuff material there to selectively copy, paste & quote while you sit in your mothers back bedroom in your underpants & spout your uninformed BILE on your audience.


I cannot remember my first lesson in how to handle a firearm, but I do remember that one of the first things I learned is that whenever a lethal weapon is passed to you . . . IT IS YOUR JOB TO CHECK THAT WEAPON IS SAFE.
