Was wondering if anyone has an idea how much welding costs these days. Ive been quoted about £400 to have a 10mm steel plate welded approx 3.5 metres in length.
seems a lot or am I wrong?
Cheers

How much are the other quotes?
The problem is id have to take the whole job to another firm. I'd like to know if they are being unreasonable first.
What is the other dimension of the plate? What's it for - 10mm is far more than would be found on a typical car.
It's 10mm X 100mm X 3.5metres Welded to another steel. Price is to supply the 10mm steel and 3.5m of welding.

That is quite expensive, but then we don't know all the in's and outs.

At the end of the day if there work is very good then its value may likely be justified.

I presume they will undertake all preparation and cutting of the old stuff etc etc

How much 10mm steel are they supplying? Steel prices have doubled in the last year.

I was gobsmacked a few months ago, when I had to pay £300 for a 12m length of 76 x 127 I-beam! That was just the beam. No work on it. Steel prices are absolutely crazy just now.
