New Covid Variant - B.1.1.529

what is the best solution...

A jab every 6 months for ever and ever, or let the human immune system adapt?
Dunno really. Does anyone? Interesting question though. The answer is usually centred around how many people we are prepared to lose, what impact it will have upon hospitals and how it will affect the economy etc.

Poxy virus.

Jab people enough and that might trigger long term immunity. Natural immunity doesn't relate to new virus. We don't have any end of. It could be kicking around still in say 50 years. Flu and colds etc have been around for a lot longer than that. One flu variant has killed millions. If covid hangs around long term age becomes a problem for everybody.

Infections of SARS COV1 are still being picked up. This one is SARS COV2. Can only assume that COV1 mutated favourably. It seemed to just more or less stop. Then comes bird flu. They still tell people when that is around in the wild here for obvious reasons.

If only we could Google it. ;)

Essentially the names are handed out early but not all make it to being a variant of concern, for example lambda and mu are only of interest. I expect the others were briefly of interest but then started complaining about the mainstream media and got so dull no-one cared anymore.

The Alpha through Delta were only consistent as we'd already identified them before the naming convention was created.

They're talking about the potential of locking down again if this new variant starts to become an issue ..

There worried that the public will refuse to accept any new restrictions...

Im not sure I could.

It almost feels like we'll be in lockdowns and restrictions in perpetuity, the virus is never going to go away, due to its continuous mutations..

Hopefully, the new strains have not met the vaccine, so will be an easy target for the existing vaccine.

It is awfully depressing.

My wife teaches the piano - every week she has pupils that are off because they’ve got the ‘rona - it seems just a matter of time before we catch it.
