Hi all

Looking for a petrol garden vac/mulcher as I have loads of leaves to collect.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance

Thanks, I have a blower and got them in piles but was hoping for them to be mulched as too many for green waste bin collection

I bought one of these on Monday, made light work of hoovering up and mulching wet leaves (last green bin day for us so made the most of it!).

I used it along with the grass rake for the lawn and on it's own for the paths etc.

I looked at the Titan machine a while back. Mostly I want to blow leaves together and then pick them up, but I need a suction feature to tidy up awkward areas. And some of the time that means wet leaves.

On the second page of questions it says:

Q. How does it perform sucking up wet leafs compared to sucking up dry?

A. The instruction manual for this item specifically states that wet materials should not be sucked up.

Maybe that is them just covering themselves but it could be a real issue, especially as quite a number of reviews say the suction is a lot less than the blowing power.

I've got one and the suction is fine for sucking up dry leaves and bits of cut grass.
Very few garden vac's will suck up wet leaves because they tend to clump together so that they won't go up the nozzle or they stick to the surface that they are laying on.
I've never used it as a blower and it isn't a quick job to convert it between suck and blow modes (pipes to disconnect and different pipes to fit).
It also won't suck up really big leaves even if they are dry because there is a grid in the pipe which is designed to stop gravel being sucked into the mulching blade.

A darlac leaf grabber or similar and a jumbo bag would be as quick, probably quicker.

Blup

Mine did really well sucking wet leaves up, obviously I wouldn't go out when its p1ssing it down but it made light work of our reasonable sized back garden.

Due to the nature of when the leaves fall you'd have a hard time planning a bone dry day, when you're off work and have time to sort the garden.

I filled 3/4 of a big green wheelie bin full of mulch.
