Hi,

I would like to lower the ground level of the infill section on a terrace house, as it is near to the floor level of the house. Is it necessary to have a party wall agreement for this amount of digging down?

Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by 'party wall agreement'? Are you asking if you need your neighbours permission?
Bear in mind, if you lower your ground level relevant to your neighbours you may end up with a water-logged garden, even if there is a wall separating both gardens.

Hi

yes I meant a party wall agreement with their permission as I would be digging next to the wall at the boundary. I would think it is not necessary as I would not be undermining any foundations.

For more context. The neighbours ground level is lower than ours by about half a metre or more. There is a wall at the boundary between made of brick/stone that goes all the way to their ground level.
Thanks

PWA agreement only necessary if you excavate below the level of their foundation, so in this case, no agreement necessary.
