Hi all

What’s the best plastic fittings these days for central heating. In the past I’ve used John guest speed fit.

Thanks

Either TBH, everyone I know uses HEP if plastic is to be used but it all depends on what your working with or attaching to.

If it's a new install then HEP as it's not as DIY friendly as it needs a key to demount but it is a little more pricey.

Ideally use copper though, if possible.

I’m thinking plastic for speed really. I need to fit new radiators and upgrade pipework at the same time. Was thinking plastic would be quicker and also easier to feed 22mm pipes under suspended floors

Many plumbers insist on copper, but then fit hep2o in their house (???)
Seen this twice.
On this subject, anyone seen a properly fitted hep2o joint leak yet?
I didn't, even joints under stress.

Does hep2o need a special pipe? I have about 10 lengths of jg pipe from last install and some fittings

I use all from hep2o.
Personally I wouldn't mix brands, but many do and they get paid.
I’m not in that boat so if best not to mix, I’m happy with that. Do you know if they do an ‘easy lay’ type pipe? Is it pb or pex

I buy the roll in 10m or 50m depending on what I'm doing.
Very easy to lay.
Use talon clips to secure it and you won't go wrong.
Make sure the joints are not stressed with pipes too long or too short; there's a lot of give when using these pipes, so you don't need to be millimetre exact like with copper.

Be careful mixing different brands of plastic, they will all offer a warranty on their system or onto copper, but if you use one brand of fitting with another brand of plastic pipe you may find it difficult if you have a leak. One may blame the other.

I know a number of plumbers who mix systems without problems, but if you do, be aware you may have an issue.
