We are currently converting an internal garage to a utility and WC. There is an existing WC which will be coming out as part of the plan.

Is there a minimum size for the new WC ?

The building inspector is insisting the new WC can't be smaller than the one that is coming out (2m x .8m). This seems odd why not just quote the required size under regs.

It the insistence that the new WC must the same size as existing that is ****ing me off, I have asked for the said regulation to be provided or black and white figures - Still nothing and not budging, just quoting that is can't be smaller.

There is no minimum size for a WC unless you are building new and need a disability/accessible WC, or perhaps if the house was built to disability (Part M) standard, and the replacement WC needs to replicate the original - but 800mm width discounts both of these.

The house was built early 80's with inward opening door. The proposed wc despite being smaller will actually have better access (pocket door)

If they wont budge put up a temporary stud wall, then take it down once he’s passed it as complete. The decor doesn't have to be finished before completion. I know its more work but at least you will get what you want and jobsworth will be happy.
