Our loft conversion has been fully decorated and we are due to have fitted furniture put in. We discovered that where the wardrobes are going the spotlights would be partially covered. Builder sent electrician to move them which he did. He used a device to make the new holes and then left us with the 2 circular discs of ceiling he hade removed to replace in the other holes that will be part covered by wardrobe.

What is the best way to fit these in? We don't want to use any screws/nails and we don't want to re plaster new ceiling. Our decorator suggested pushing the discs in a fraction higher than the ceiling and caulking found the edge, then using fine grade Polyfilla to level it. Not sure if this is best option. We've seen tape that might hold it.

Looking for simple solutions that won't be noticeable once painted over please.

Buy small plasterboard from DIY. They sell half sheets for under £4. 9mm will be fine.
Decorating powder filler.
Wood glue like a small bottle as it's just pva vs big 5lt builders pva. Any small cheap pva / woodglue with do.

Cut the plasterboard you bought to 250mm x 250mm ish
Mix filler and stick to other side of holes from above and let it dry for 2 days..

Seal the cut hole edge with 3 parts water to 1 part pva
Seal the edges of the cutout electrician gave you.
Lash on pva in two goes and let it dry for a few hours.
Mix filler
Stick the cutout in holes against the plasterboard.
Note
Just a small blob like a bean of filler or you won't be able to push the cutout level with ceiling surface with all the filler sandwiched in between.
Fill around.
Sand
Fill
Sand
Prime
The pva will stop it shrinking and cracking and no need to tape.
Easy job tbh

Hope you can get to other side?

If not stick seal as above, strip of wood through hole with string to pull on and some no nails to fix bridging across hole. Let it dry.
Then stick plasterboard cutouts to wood with no nails but don't forget to pva as above. Fill

I put 2 lengths of timber in the hole that are longer than the diameter of the hole. Being longer than the hole, I can the use a hot melt glue gun, CT1 or screws to secure the timber to the top face of the ceiling plasterboard. I then have something to screw or glue the circular disc to.

I would add that it might be advisable to sand (some of) the plaster off the disc beforehand so that it becomes thinner than the rest of the ceiling. That way when the decorator fills over it there is no risk of the disc sitting proud.

Thank you both! We can't get to the other side (as it's in loft conversion ceiling void) so will use the stick seal that you both mentioned.

Glue gun is good idea.

I've used 2 pack wood filler resin to get a move on but glue gun is good idea to stick wood

They are so cheap to buy these days.

When working with epoxy resin filler or 2 pack filler and I need to use off cuts of timber (wrapped in polythene) to create a profile to work off, I often take the nicotine gum out of my mouth to hold (read:glue) the timber offcut in place until the filler has cured. I always have gum in my mouth, I seldom have bluetack on me.
