I am considering lowering my kitchen ceiling (its about 13ft square) as tere is a big dip in the middle where it leaked (ive just bought the house and hadnt noiced) but what would be a reasonable price as Ive been quoted £1k and this surely is too much?

If all you need is timber framed out then plaster boarded + skim, a grand seems alot ( depends where you live )
If it's lath/plaster why don't you over board it
phone local plasters up for some quotes, it would take them a day if that.

or just do its yourself, if your not happy skimmin pop up the frame and PB and save yourself a few squid

We lowered my friends ceiling last week using the british gypsum m/f system.it was 12by10. All the materials cost £110 including the plaster so i think £400-£450 max would be a fairer price.It took us a good day to do the job
