Does direction matter?

I am getting some double glazed units made up to fit in to my old wooden windows. Basically they are 6,3mm acoustic glass, 8mm argon gas, 4mm glass with a reflective coating (similar to K glass but by sancobain)

Now does it matter in what direction the windows are fitted? the supplier says not but I thought that the 'k glass' had to face in a particular direction

who is right?

There is a difference, The coating should always be on face 3 when viewed from the outside (ie. the float pane or in your case 6.3 accoustic on the outside)
saint gobain (I think there K equivalent is called eco-logic) units nomally come with a manufacturers sticker on the coated pane.
This sticker should go to the inside of the building

As mentioned, the sticker will tell you the side of the glass for the interior side but I got caught out when they stuck the sticker on the wrong side so be careful. I even has a sticker inside the double glazed unit

My dg supplier told me it does not matter. As the units are to go in to 'handed' arches I wanted to make sure that what they told me is correct.

Also how do I tell that the glass actually has a coating as there were no stickers on the glass and no indications that it was coated as they said

If you have good eyesight, you can see a slight tint, not easy though!
