I have a shower screen chanel (bit the screws to the wall) which has been damaged when trying to prise away from the old tiles. Unfortunately we are going to have to ditch it, but rather than buying a whole new shower screen can we just buy another chanel? The internal diameter is 30mm, there is a 30mm block which looks to be glued to the shower glass.

I'd be pretty surprised if merely replacing the channel ever resulted in an effective screen but I guess if you were going to revamp the bathroom soon it could be worth trying to salvage what you have. But there's nothing stopping you buying a replacement channel and sticking what you have in with some silicone.

Actually it kinda looks like the bathroom is undergoing some work atm, consider also that if your 'repair' does fail you will have to remove the channel once again and replace it anyway along with any disruption to the wall/tiles etc.

Sometimes you need to know when to cut your losses. It'd be something like £20 for a simple channel and some silicone against a new screen for say £80.

We are retiling as we had a leak related to a bad tiling job by the previous owner. Walls have been properly tile backer boarded so it's water proof. So retiling but keeping same units for the moment and respraying them. From what I can see screens are about £220. There is nothing wrong with the glass it's just the u channel that's bent now.
