Is a Swiss style deal on the way

"Downing Street has “categorically” denied it is seeking a Swiss-style relationship with the EU"

So that means they definitely are.
Because at the moment there is no other option that can be sold to brexiteers who are suffering through their own ignorance but won't admit it yet...

But it's the first step...

At some point it'll occur to even the thickest of brexiteers that 'oops, we made a huge mistake' is the order of the day!

The best bit of this storyline is all the Brexers looking up stroke symptoms so they can pretend to be apoplectic about it. Whilst secretly responding to polls as remainers/made-a-mistakers.

I'm sure there are people like that, the polls say so. I've not met any any of these people.

I remember when all the discussion was about whether it would be Switzerland, Norway or Turkey.

It was not a mistake to leave the evil organisation that is the EU. We have not yet had a leader who has made the most of the exit or has tried to get from the EU what it owes us.

Absolute ******, WTO rules would be fine. The EU will eventually realise they're punishing themselves as much as us and will be more pragmatic in the solution, ditto with the NI protocol.
Look, we have a tariff and quota free trade deal better than any other deal they have with another country or area, there's just a few rough edges that need polishing, it's really not a big deal.

Turkish sounds preferable, they've taken over Italy's status as the manufacturer of 'white goods' without ceding too much.

I think the Turkey model was customs union, but no single market. The Norway model was single market, but no customs union. And the Swiss model was a series of bilateral treaties.

The bottom line is that the only solution is tariff and quota free trade globally, which is something UK has always aimed at and why it was the founder member of the WTO. Problem is, countries don't necessarily want competition, or cheap imports driving their own prices down so 'protectionism' comes into the equation, and there ain't anyone more protectionist than the EU. Food standards are a classic example, standards of food worldwide are particularly high but the EU will find a way of downgrading another countries standards to protect their own expensive farmers, if the EU dictates no more than six chickens can be kept in a cage, a country that keeps seven chickens in a cage is blocked from exporting to the EU on animal welfare grounds, **** the fact that they themselves try to pass off horsemeat as beef, **** the fact that they force feed birds to enlarge their livers for the production of Foie Gras, **** the fact that they stampede cattle though the streets of Spain for entertainment and **** the fact that they still have bullfighting (the bull never wins) in Spain.

Of course the problem to total free trade is countries like China, they will flood the market with cheap steel in order to close down European manufacturers.

It's a tricky one, the EU isn't the solution.

The UK had nothing to do with bilateral agreements between Switzerland and the EU. WTF are you on?
The EU's restrictive rules on state aid were set well before Brexit (2013: Revision of State Aid Regulation and earlier) and AFAIK as a member at that time the UK was party to setting the agenda

Evil? WTF? You make it sound as though it was the invention of the devil himself. Now if you want to see evil and malice you need look no furthet than the ERG in our Parliament

Has the EU ever had a budget/accounts audited and approved? Genuine question but I cant remember them being accepted but I do remember finance directors/ministers/people resigning etc.

For context gb news ran a poll of its viewers, 55% of who said they would vote remain now. The trend is towards closer trading arrangements with europe, which inevitably means customs and tariff unions.

Blup

What's that got to do with Switzerland stance on the subject?
