I'm getting on a bit and thinking of starting to clear out my workshop .
I don't like using eBay so was wondering where else I could try?

thanks

Unless your tools are collectables (i.e.more than 60 years old), eBay is probably still your best bet, despite the high charges. I've tried local advertising and printed media (e.g Loot, etc) in the past but the level of interest was always a lot lower than the 'Bay

i would suggest maybe Facebook market or a group in your area , I have used a local facebook group to sell items and also used Nextdoor site

What sort of tools , maybe there is an apprentice in the area who might welcome the tools

A lot of the old hand tools are much better quality, I still have and use some of my dads Carpentry tools , from the 50's & 60's , they are high quality wood and many have brass inlets.

Recently my Uncle-n-law passed away and the family asked if i wanted to have a look around his garage and take any tools - he had loads of high quality tools - spanners , hand tools etc - Which I knew would be of great value to his carer , who had just set up home. they had not thought of that, as they also knew her - we recommended the carer as she looked after my M-I-L and now we are god parents to her child

I have recently found men-in-sheds , not been to the local workshop yet - but they may be interested
Or if there is a special needs place who have a workshop - I know of one who used (2010 ish) to do computer repairs - Elizabeth foundation , as part of the patients development back into the community

Thanks for all your replies. I have plenty of choices now! I didn't know most of them.
I didn't think I could advertise on this site?
The tools I am getting rid of at the moment are a "WoodCut" bench mortiser and a "clearvue" cyclone dust extraction unit so not handtools.

I will be thinking of selling some of my large tools such as planer-thichnesser, Jointer, Pillar drill, radial arm saw, chopsaw, tablesaw, bandsaw etc
But I'm not quite ready to part with them yet.

Thank again
Mike

I suggest you join UKworkshop forum, it’s a specialist woodworking forum with a for sale section - but you have to make a certain number of posts before being able to use the for sale section.

Agreed with the previous poster, join UK Workshop and put an advert up on there. Also "The Woodworker" classifieds (in print) would be worthwhile trying

What for sale section??

You need to be a member and logged in to see it don't you?

Yes and I certainly have enough posts - where abouts is it?
