Afternoon guys. I'm having our bathroom & downstairs toilet refurbished. In the process of getting some quotes in.

First guy has texted me his quote over & basically said cost will be £abc for toilet & £xyz for bathroom as discussed.

Is this normal way to quote for a job? I must admit i assumed it would be a more in depth. I.e remove bathroom suite, replace with shower tray, fitted sink unit & new toilet etc

Got a couple more to come, but before i contact him what should i be getting in writing before i except a quote?

If its a small job I'll send via WhatsApp.

Anything in more depth I'll give a written estimate giving as much detail as possible. This educates and puts your mind at ease. It also covers both of us..

Give him the flip move on

It's quite common now to give a budgetary figure, if the customer says it's ballpark for what they expect, then I always put it in writing.
If the customer says that's far more than I thought, I may well have saved 3 or 4 hours worth of my time.

I give written quote with my T&Cs. This all includes what will be done and what I'm supplying. What happens to rubbish. Payment terms and everything to cover the legal side.

Some trades give verbal price and if customer is interest follow with written quote.

Some trades are lazy tbh and unaware what's available.
Make a small pack. Include everything required with T&Cs. Fill in the form boxes and send as pdf.
Some can knock out quotation pack in 10 mins.

Just be aware of the headache and misunderstanding that can happen with nothing in writing

before i went ahead with a bathroom, ensuite refit, i made sure all was in writing , before commencing - it was only an A4 page they sent - but enough detail , so we both understood expectations.
I would not go ahead with a text - But i may say , i'm interested would you provide full details.
anyway just me
