Diynot Server

'fraid so. It has taken a beating!

Still the upgrade is due sometime this week (fingers crossed etc), I'll post when I have an exact time, and hopefully things will be more reliable :)

Will the new server publish the forum rules more clearly?

Yes, but not exclusively.

The point about those rules is that the order of them changes over the course of time, and yet old posts refer to them in what becomes a nonsensical way.

And there are other forum rules that appear to exist that aren't published within the forum rules that you've just referred to.

Here's one.

When I follow that principle, i.e. of Emailing [email protected], I get no reply.

Ok :) fair enough.

Softus, when was the last time you emailed admin, I do try to reply to every email I get. [email protected] does receive hundreds of emails per day (mostly junk), so I may have missed it but I don't remember receiving an email from you recently.

Not recently, 'cos I'm not one for flogging a dead horse - I stopped when I didn't get replies. ;)

I would expect that you're quite busy, doing things that Admins do, the technical needs of the site being one, but maybe there's a case for permitting moderators to see Email addresses of forum members so that they can send Emails to transgressors rather than start what otherwise becomes an argument on the open forum?

Yes, I agree, the mods need a more consistent way of communicating with members, it's definitely something I'm looking at after the server upgrade.

If it helps, I too, am waiting for a reply

I empathise Lynda. Do you find hope in Admin's earlier post, about reviewing moderators' 'powers' (after the server upgrade)?

I hope so. It can not be easy running a site like DIYnot, based on the law of averages some emails will “slip through”

Upgrade??? Does that mean the mods are going to be nicer or are they just being supplied with even shinier jackboots?

Hang fire for a minute solo - this topic wasn't intended to be an opportunity for mod-sniping; I'm more concerned about the lack of clarity regarding the rules, and the fact that this makes the job of a moderator more difficult than it should be.

Divvent worry Softus, there'll be a mod alang in a minnit ter wipe it oot.

But there ye go agin - cannae we nae make this a snipe-free zone (laddie)?
