Simple, I moved it.

Since it is about the plumbing industry, "plumbers" would seem to be the ones to give the best advice.

the mods binned it out of general discussion...

I don't think this guys trying to take over england - we live in Crewe where the only plumbers you can actually get are from british gas at £150 "to have a look" - so we're over run with gynecologists...

and seeing as it also involves decorators why not move it there

I say good luck to him, one thing I will say though is that the regs and materials used here in the UK may be very different to what he has been using at home. it might be worth a course to bring him up to spec on the way things are done in the UK.

so no laws to say he can't just start trading, but what about his cusomers, do they need o have his work checked out by corgi registered people to check conformity or are they safe?

hey now! You never mentioned gas!! He need to get is ACS qualifications passed and become Corgi registered which will involve varoius assesments and sometimes evidence of prevoius gaswork experianced. If he does not get Corgi registered then he will be breaking the law working on gas and get a severe penalty and/or prison for doing so.

NO, he is perfectly free to set up his own business. Just make sure he is open at 6am every morning & has my newspaper ready. Does he sell milk?
