Hi all,

Does anyone know why built-in washing machines cost significantly more than free standing ones? The only difference I can see are a couple of hinge attachments. I'm considering just buying a free standing and building my own unit to enclose. Has anybody tried this, would there be any problems e.g. ventilation, vibration?

Thanks in advance for any useful comments, Keith

That is very interesting to learn, do they have to improve the damping to restict vibration in the units?

yes, normally a w/m has 2 shock absorbers, an intergrated has 4, so to make them fit the cabinet ia also different (bear in mind i can only speak for HP)

Well i can tell you that there is absolutely no difference apart from the front on all hotpoint, ariston, indesit and creda appliances. They only cost more because people will pay more for these appliances.

not quite true.

yes a lot of said companies are now owned by 1 parent company, and yes they are probably now the same basic guts, but the way your post reads they are all 100% the same, this is not true of older appliances, and also as i said, integrated are not the same as non intergrated

Well as an indesit engineer which now own hotpint, ariston and creda I fit the same part in these appliance whether they are integrated or not.

Shockers are the same and as for the lid it makes no difference to the appliance specs.

i never said the were differnet, i said count them

and look again at the lid,

integrated have perfetly flat lids (just like a sheet of metal), where as non integrated have raised lids if you will

Count what???? There are 2 shockers as with all their appliances.

So why does this integrated fridge need a shock absorber anyway?
