increasing pressure in central heating system.

hi Gasguru,

Yes it does have two square gouges on the right, pressure and tempurature.

If i have trapped air..how can i release the trapped air?

Yes the timeclock and room thermostat are on.

Should be one of these - is it? Turbomax 242 or 282.
What does the pressure gauge read?

Does it look like this (front grey cover plate removed)

The boiler makes use of hydraulic pressure to control the diverter valve - therefore the waterin the boiler must be air free for the system to function correctly.

I am assuming the pump runs when the heating is selected and the heating did work before you bleed the radiators (and dropped the pressure).

Try turning the hot taps on/off several times with the heating selected - this can help get the air dislodged.

If no luck the automatic air vent located behind the boiler on the right may have its cap screwed shut (they often leak). Loosen slightly to allow air out but be prepared for it to leak. Alternatively the air vent may be blocked so replacement is only solution.

When did they stop making those, GG? More than 10 years I thought?

Yes Gasguru thats what the boiler looks like.

the heating did work before i bled the radiators, but i only bled the 2 upstairs and none of the ones downstairs.

i have also noticed a small leak from one of the radiators downsatiars. (just started yesterday i think.) and have isolated that radiator now.

i tried the hot water on/off thing but still no luck.

Where exactly is the automatic air vent cos i cant see it. what does it look like. do i need a screwdriver to let the air out?

Remove white right hand side panel to access if you can't see it from the top.
