have just replaced my cartridge fuses with wylex mcbs, a doddle even

for someone like me, however as the mcbs are larger than the

cartridges, the, cover will not fit flush,i have used a larger holding screw,

and the cover,is about 60% flush, and quite secure.

two questions,as the fuse box is in the porch, and well protected,

weather wise, is this safe enough, and secondly,if yes or no, any

ideas, where i could get a deeper cover. thanks ralph.

MCBs will still operate even with the switches wedged in the on position.

Normally when retro fitting MCBs to wylex fuse boxes the middle of the cover is cut out to allow it to fit properly.

1) The covers don't fit. Wylex never bothered changing the design.

2) It is possible to fabricate a cover. I did this for my old mum using a plastic sandwich box (!) from Wilkinsons, as her CU is under the stairs and the MCBs might get brushed or knocked by coats and things. You may need to trim it to make tabs that will slot in to hold it steady.
