Go for solid wooden door, upvc doors are easy to break into

Nothing wrong with a 'good' PVCu door if it has a midrail and is properly reinforced (How many burglars do you know who stand at your front door trying to smash it down?) :D
Timber doors are no more secure, it's just the only way they can try and market them nowadays as the cons outweigh the pro's
Personally I would recomend a good composite door.
Excellent security (just ask the police, they can't actually break through them with a ram)
Zero maintainance and great thermal properties and weathersealing!
;)

A solid timber door is just as good although I agree with you about the composite door but they are more dearer but you get what you pay for.

I don't have to smash it down even for the midrail because they are so simple to break into, my best time was 11 seconds!!! and I've found 3 ways of breaking into them without making any noise ;)

These doors must be very different from my uPVC doors which are steel and simply clad in uPVC (I admit they look horrible though)

 Far too much time on your hands
