If so does the doctor examining you need to see your medical history notes from your doctor or do they just ask you yes and no answers?

What sort of medical? Afaik works doctors do not have a right to access your private medical records without your permission.

I'm not sure. I figured you'd have to get passed as metally and thesically fit enough to do electrical work but wasn't sure how they do it.

I don't have anything on my records yet but I was trying to get refered to a specialist to get officially diagnossed with something but not sure if I should bother now.

thesically?

care to elaborate for those of us not in the medical profession.. ( google came up blank too.. )

Physically?
Remembering back all I remember is a basic health screen, colour blindness test etc so it can't have been that bad.

I sometimes think I need my head examined!!

Crawling round in lofts on a hot day, getting covered in dust when chasing out and fitting security lights in sub zero temperatures etc etc.

Hello,
I do believe that the JIB used to have a medical check up to cover thier BUPA membership ?????
I had a test some years ago to obtain a PTS cert, ( personal trackside safety) but otherwise I have only encountered 'random' drug etc testing on larger on-going sites, (major projects).

Ed.

The only test that I ever had was for colour blindness, and this was done by the college before accepting me onto their apprenitceship scheme.

i did my apprenticeship with blue circle and i had to have a basic medical and colour blindness test

I remember years ago, when I started my apprenticeship with the GPO, there was a very basic medical.... Number of arms, Number of legs, Head (tick box if present)... and half a dozen bits of wire sellotaped to a bit of card for a colour blindness test.

If you work for a Corp then some sort of tests are likely- the older you are the more likely they are.

Not sure if any have drugs, drink random type tests (yet).

As for being self employed then the answers no tests or medical cert required. That said if you are colour blind, have rotten eye sight, arthritic fingers, worn knee joints and a bad back then mobility within your working environment could become a show stopper.

Hopefully (unlike me) you won't be 47 and silly enough to work as a (mostly) one man band- God I need a 18-20 year old for some 'mates' work.

Read banging out boxes, drilling routes, chasing walls, seeing in materials and carting the tool boxes about.
