Hi there,
I am stripping walls and ceiling in our bathroom to repaint it all.
walls: I found a layer of paint under the paper which came off quite easily in some areas but seems to be sound in some other. Any way of removing it all nicely and easily (don't want to replaster...)
ceiling: there is painted lining paper and the same pb of it coming off not so well in some part. How to remove it?
After all this, what would be a good primer to use before repainting?
Thanks for any help.

It all depends how well the paint has adhered to the surface and how sound the surface is. You might want to lightly sand the paint to give it a key, then repaint over the top.

Best way to get paper of is too use hot water with vinegar mixed in, score the paper surface or use a 'papertiger' to perforate the paper then apply the water/vinegar mix. Leave to soak for a few minutes 10-15 mins. Then scrape.

Best sealer I have found over the years is zinsser bin; covers anything.

Cheers,

Dave
